Regular Season Round 4: B.Loewen - Goettingen 60-80

Rather expected game when 6th ranked B.Loewen (1-2) was crushed at home by top-ranked Goettingen (3-0) 80-60 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Goettingen. B.Loewen was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Goettingen forced 20 B.Loewen turnovers. Strangely B.Loewen outrebounded Goettingen 38-25 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Alissa Pierce (177-86) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 6 assists and Czech guard Katarina Flasarova (171-85) who added 28 points during the contest. At the losing side American center Catrina Green (188-92, college: Gardner-Webb) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds and her fellow American import Ja'Nee Morton (175) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. B.Loewen's coach Svanhildur Gilles rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Goettingen have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in North with 3-0 record having just two point less than leader Heidelberg, which they share with Wolfenbuettel. Loser B.Loewen dropped to the eighth place with two games lost. Goettingen will face league's second-placed Osnabruck SC at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. B.Loewen will play against Krofdorf/Gleib. (#5) and hope to win that game.
