Regular Season Round 6: KTU - Nafta-Uni. 79-82

A very close game took place in Kaunas between Nafta-Uni. and KTU. Third ranked Nafta-Uni. (5-1) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked KTU (2-4). Nafta-Uni. managed to escape with a 3-point win 82-79 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. KTU trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 29-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 79-82 at the end of the game. Nafta-Uni. forced 23 KTU turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Point guard Benas Bagdonavicius (198-99) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Viktoras Chodosovskis (200-89) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Matas Sapiega (178-90) with 19 points and 4 assists and point guard Arturs Pelss (181-87) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Four KTU players scored in double figures. KTU's coach Vytautas Pliauga tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Nafta-Uni. keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Suduva-Mantinga. KTU lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with four games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Nafta-Uni. will meet at home Ezerunas-Karys (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. KTU will play against Silute (#5) and hope to secure a win.
