Regular Season Round 5: Neuss - Opladen 93-52

Very expected game when 6th ranked SG BBZ Opladen (2-3) was rolled over on the road by leader TG Neuss (5-0) 93-52 on Saturday. The game without a history. TG Neuss led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding SG BBZ Opladen to just 7 points in fourth quarter. TG Neuss dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to SG BBZ Opladen's 22. TG Neuss forced 31 SG BBZ Opladen turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Marquita Waller (180-88, college: VCU) who had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Dara Taylor (173-91, college: Penn St.) chipped in 14 points, 8 assists and 6 steals. Four TG Neuss players scored in double figures. Center Mareike Nettersheim (186-83) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Nicola Happel (164-92) added 12 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for TG Neuss. They maintain first place in North with 5-0 record, which they share with Osnabruck SC. Loser SG BBZ Opladen keeps the sixth position with three games lost. TG Neuss will face Barmer TV (#10) in Wuppertal in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SG BBZ Opladen will play at home against Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (#3) and hope to win that game.
