Regular Season Round 5: Samsun - Bandirma Kir. 101-72

Eleventh ranked Samsun (3-2) crushed at home 12th ranked Bandirma Kir. (2-3) by 29 points 101-72, which is the biggest margin this round. It looked good early as Bandirma Kir. took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Samsun had a 27-13 second period charge getting the lead and Bandirma Kir. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-101. They outrebounded Bandirma Kir. 38-26 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Samsun especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Guinea-American forward Ousmane Drame (206-93, college: Quinnipiac) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). American point guard Jerry Smith (188-87, college: Louisville, agency: HMS) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Emir Gokalp (185-95) answered with 26 points and Talat Alp Altunbey (204-94) added 16 points in the effort for Bandirma Kir.Five Samsun and four Bandirma Kir. players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Samsun moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Bandirma Kir. at the other side dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Samsun's next round opponent will be higher ranked Afyon Bld (#3) in Afyonkarahisar and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bandirma Kir. will play at home against Turk Telekom (#4) and hope to win that game.
