Keltern II can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (2-2) on the road game in Dudenhofen 82-74 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 44-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Keltern II made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American power forward Alyson Doherty (190-95, college: Cal-Davis) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Leonie Elbert (169-96) chipped in 18 points. American guard Jennifer Mocanu (172-90) produced 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Uta Gelbke (177-86) added 10 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Speyer / Schifferstadt's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Keltern II maintains tenth place in South with 1-4 record. Loser Speyer / Schifferstadt dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Keltern II will face ASC Theresianum Mainz (#11) at home in the next round.
