Regular Season Round 7: Perlas-MRU - Rasai 82-80

The most exciting game of round 7 in the NKL took place in Vilnius. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Rasai (4-3) to third ranked Perlas-MRU (5-2) 82-80 on Friday evening. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 24-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Perlas-MRU shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Margiris Normantas (193-96) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Gytis Radzevicius (195-95) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Perlas-MRU's coach Arvydas Gronskis used entire bench in such tough game. Forward Andrius Aleksandrovas (198-86) answered with 23 points and 4 assists and power forward Sarunas Beniusis (206-93) added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Rasai. Perlas-MRU maintains third place with 5-2 record behind leader Suduva-Mantinga, which they share with Telsiai. Rasai at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Silute. Perlas-MRU is looking forward to face Zalgiris II (#8) in Kaunas in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rasai will play at home against Petrochema and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
