Important game to mention about took place in Porto. Fourth ranked Vasco (3-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging much higher ranked Esgueira / Oli (2-2) 61-58 in the fight for the second place. It was a key game for the second position in Group North. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-12. But Esgueira / Oli won second period 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vasco forced 25 Esgueira / Oli turnovers. The winners were led by point guard Pedro Tavares (182-83) who scored that evening 17 points and 4 steals and Spanish forward Raul Fernandez (190-94) supported him with 13 points and 4 steals. Even a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds by power forward Bruno Fernando (200-96) did not help to save the game for Esgueira / Oli. Point guard Pedro Valente (175-85) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Esgueira / Oli's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Vasco have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group North. Esgueira / Oli at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Sangalhos and Academico FC. Vasco will play against Sangalhos (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Esgueira / Oli will play against the league's leader Dragon Force and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
