Regular Season Round 7: Aschersleben - Weser Bsk/BTS 100-88

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Weser Bsk/BTS (1-3) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Aschersleben (1-1) 100-88 on Saturday. Aschersleben shot 60.3 percent from the field. They also forced 20 Weser Bsk/BTS turnovers and outrebounded them 37-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Aschersleben especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. American guard Sharif Hudson (188, college: Ark.-Monticello) fired 19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Slovenia guard Leon Dronjak (191-91) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. American center Edward Seward (206-78, college: Norfolk St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and forward Jonas Liermann (197-87) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Five Aschersleben and four Weser Bsk/BTS players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aschersleben left bottom position moving up to sixth place in North. Weser Bsk/BTS lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Aschersleben will face higher ranked Westerstede (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Weser Bsk/BTS will play against RW Cuxhaven (#3) and hope to win that game.
