Regular Season Round 7: Halle - Saarlouis 81-84

Seventh-ranked SV Halle Lions (2-4) made lots of trouble for leader TV Saarlouis Royals (7-0) on Saturday. The visitors from Saarlouis managed to secure only three-point victory 84-81. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But SV Halle Lions won fourth quarter 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TV Saarlouis Royals forced 19 SV Halle Lions turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Latvia forward Sabine Niedola (184-91) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Monique Smalls (168-91, college: Texas Tech) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals. American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) produced 25 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward Kaneisha Horn (185-92, college: USC, agency: Two Points) added 15 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four SV Halle Lions players scored in double figures. SV Halle Lions' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. TV Saarlouis Royals have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. SV Halle Lions lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. TV Saarlouis Royals are looking forward to face league's second-placed TSV 1880 Wasserburg at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SV Halle Lions will play against Eisvogel Freiburg (#12) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
