Regular Season Round 5: Domzale - Maribor 56-68

Bottom-ranked Domzale (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 68-56 loss to leader Maribor (4-0) in Domzale. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game was mostly controlled by Maribor. Domzale was better in second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Domzale to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Maribor forced 26 Domzale turnovers. Strangely Domzale outrebounded Maribor 44-27 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tina Cvijanovic (173-98) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Simona Kuzma (168-87) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Croatia center Lorena Molnar (192-98) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds and forward Eva Stefanoski (177-97) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Domzale. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Maribor. They moved-up to second place. Domzale lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Maribor will play against league's leader Triglav in Kranj in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Domzale will have a break next round.
