Regular Season Round 8: Rasai - Petrochema 100-72
Date: October 29, 2016
Very expected game in Raseiniai where 12th ranked Petrochema (2-6) was crushed by sixth ranked Rasai (5-3) 100-72 on Saturday. The game without a history. Rasai led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 64.3 percent from the field. Rasai had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. Rasai looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Petrochema's players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sarunas Vingelis (191-89) who helped to win the game recording 27 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and power forward Darius Marcinkevicius (201-91) who added 12 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Evaldas Aniulis (190-92, college: High School) responded with 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Lukas Grabauskas (194-95) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Rasai moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Silute and Telsiai. Petrochema lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with six games lost. Rasai will face league's leader Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Petrochema will play at home against Ezerunas-Karys (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
