There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Urla BLD (2-3) beat higher ranked Yalova Vip (2-3) in Izmir 61-57 on Sunday. Urla BLD forced 26 Yalova Vip turnovers. Gizem Kumandanoglu (-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 assists. Ayse Gurcavdi (-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Forward Ebru Torun (-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and American center Akila McDonald (193-91, college: S.Florida) added 13 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Yalova Vip. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Urla BLD moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Yalova Vip. Urla BLD will face bottom-ranked Nevsehir Uni (#20) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
