Regular Season Round 6: Gruenberg - B.Loewen 60-74

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Baskets Grunberg (2-4) lost to ninth ranked B.Loewen (2-4) in Gruenberg 60-74 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by B.Loewen. Baskets Grunberg was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. B.Loewen dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Baskets Grunberg's 34. They outrebounded Baskets Grunberg 40-27 including a 31-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American Ja'Nee Morton (175) who led her team to a victory with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Center Viktoria Jaeger (184) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Sarah Olson (173-93, college: Monmouth) replied with 21 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Canadian forward Vanessa Zailo (180-92, college: Lindenwood) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Baskets Grunberg. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. B.Loewen moved-up to seventh place in North, which they share with Opladen and Gruenberg. B.Loewen will face higher ranked Osnabruecker (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
