Regular Season Round 6: Rhein MB - Wasserburg II 84-51

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Rhein Main Baskets (3-2) outplayed 9th ranked Wasserburg II (1-4) in Langen 84-51 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Rhein Main Baskets. Wasserburg II was better in third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rhein Main Baskets made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Rhein Main Baskets outrebounded Wasserburg II 44-25 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for international guard Elisabeth Dzirma (178-94) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Bosnian power forward Anja Stupar (180-89) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Rhein Main Baskets players scored in double figures. Coach Peter Kortmann's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Liz Wood (178-93, college: Maine) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Priscilla-Chiara Waterloh (185-94) added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Wasserburg II. Rhein Main Baskets moved-up to third place in South, which they share with 3 other teams. Wasserburg II lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Rhein Main Baskets will face Homburger TG (#7) on the road in the next round. Wasserburg II will play against Weiterstadt and hope to win that game.
