Regular Season Round 9: Neptunas - Lietuvos rytas 79-78

The most exciting game of round 9 in the LKL took place in Klaipeda. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Lietuvos rytas (6-3) to seventh ranked Neptunas (4-5) 79-78 on Sunday evening. Lietuvos rytas cut a 19-point halftime deficit to one at the end of the game. Neptunas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Jimmy Baron (191-86, college: Rhode Island) who scored 24 points. His fellow American import point guard Larry Drew II (188-90, college: UCLA) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Drew Gordon (205-90, college: N.Mexico) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds and American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas' coach Tomas Pacesas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Neptunas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Nevezis and Vytautas. Lietuvos rytas at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Neptunas is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Siauliai (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Lietuvos rytas will play against P.Zvaigzdes (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
