Regular Season Round 4: Blyskavky - Avangard 46-68

An interesting game for Avangard (4-1) which played road game in Vinnytsia against 4th ranked Blyskavky (2-2). Second ranked Avangard had an easy win 68-46. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Blyskavky. The game was mostly controlled by Avangard. Blyskavky was better in fourth quarter 14-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Avangard held Blyskavky to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Avangard forced 20 Blyskavky turnovers and outrebounded them 53-33 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Olga Yatskovets (183-97) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Viktoriya Kondus (175-97) who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Avangard's coach Volodimir Kholopov felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side international power forward Tetyana Yurkevicius (187-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and forward Tetyana Gaiv (179-88) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Avangard have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Avangard maintains second position with 4-1 record having just three points less than leader Interkhim, which they share with Tim-Scuf. Blyskavky at the other side keeps the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Dynamo-NPU. Avangard's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kyiv to the arena Dynamo-NPU.
