Regular Season Round 9: Nevezis - Zalgiris 68-81

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kedainiai. First ranked Zalgiris faced 4th placed Nevezis. Guests from Kaunas (8-1) defeated host Nevezis (4-5) 81-68. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. Nevezis was better in third quarter 18-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zalgiris players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for Paulius Jankunas (205-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Edgaras Ulanovas (197-92) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Zalgiris' coach Sarunas Jasikevicius used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Justas Sinica (203-85) answered with 15 points and Croatia guard Toni Prostran (182-91) added 13 points and 6 assists in the effort for Nevezis. Zalgiris have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 8-1 record. Nevezis at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Neptunas and Vytautas. Zalgiris will play against Juventus (#9) in Utena in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nevezis will play at home against the league's second-placed Lietkabelis (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
