A very close game took place in Lisboa between Barreirense and Benfica B. Leader Barreirense (4-0) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd placed Benfica B (3-2). Barreirense managed to escape with a 2-point win 73-71 in the game for the first place. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 21-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Kenny Martin (208, college: Ark.-Fort Smith) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Antonio Pires (185-86) chipped in 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Serbian power forward Veljko Stankovic (199-97) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Slovenia guard Aljaz Slutej (188-96) scored 9 points and 10 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Barreirense have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group South with 4-0 record. Loser Benfica B dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Angra and Estoril Basket. Barreirense will meet Estoril Basket (#4) on the road in the next round. Benfica B will play against Terceira and hope to secure a win.
