Regular Season Round 9: Telsiai - Zalgiris II 74-66

Very expected game in Telsiu where 9th ranked Zalgiris II (3-6) was defeated by fourth ranked Telsiai (6-3) 74-66. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zalgiris II won third quarter 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Telsiai dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris II's 30. Forward Ovidijus Kaminskis (195-91) nailed 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) accounted for 16 points. Four Telsiai players scored in double figures. Power forward Laurynas Birutis (213-97) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds and guard Ignas Sargiunas (193-99) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Zalgiris II in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Telsiai maintains fourth place with 6-3 record, which they share with Silute and Rasai. Zalgiris II at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Telsiai's next round opponent will be league's leader Nafta-Uni. in Klaipeda and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zalgiris II will play on the road against the league's second-placed Suduva-Mantinga (#2) in Marijampole and hope to win that game.
