Regular Season Round 8: Herner - Marburg 83-61

Date: November 5, 2016
Very important is a road loss of third ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (5-3) against sixth ranked Herner TC (5-3) on Saturday night. Visiting BC Pharmaserv Marburg was crushed by Herner TC in Herne 83-61. The game without a history. Herner TC led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Herner TC outrebounded BC Pharmaserv Marburg 48-26 including a 23-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Sonja Greinacher (188-92, college: Gonzaga) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Haiden Palmer (173-91, college: Gonzaga) who added 14 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Herner TC players scored in double figures. Bulgaria power forward Diana Voynova (192-88, college: Duquesne) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and the former international power forward Svenja Greunke (188-89) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Herner TC moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Marburg. Herner TC will play against ChemCats Chemnitz (#8) on the road in the next round. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will play against the league's second-placed TV Saarlouis Royals (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
