There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Rendsburg (1-3) lost at home to eleventh ranked Vechta-2 (1-3) 85-73 on Saturday. Rendsburg was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Kazembe Abif (201-92, college: Drexel) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds. Philipp Herkenhoff (207-99) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Abif is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Vechta-2 players scored in double figures. American swingman Martell Collins (196-93, college: SW Oklahoma St.) replied with 22 points and 9 rebounds and guard Max Hillner (190-89) added 25 points in the effort for Rendsburg. Rendsburg's coach Bjarne Homfeldt tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Vechta-2 left bottom position moving up to eighth place in North, which they share with defeated Rendsburg. Vechta-2 will face higher ranked Wusterhausen (#6) in Wildau in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
