No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Gruner Stern Keltern (5-2) beat 9th ranked Fireballs (2-6) in Bad Aibling 77-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gruner Stern Keltern. Fireballs was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Belgian Emmanuella Mayombo (170-92, agency: LBM Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Serbian Maja Vucurovic (187-91, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Jessica Hootmann (190-85) replied with 17 points and American forward Ali Forde (188, college: Idaho) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Fireballs. Five Gruner Stern Keltern and four Fireballs players scored in double figures. Gruner Stern Keltern have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Fireballs dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Gruner Stern Keltern will face TH Wohnbau Angels (#11) in Noerdlingen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fireballs will play on the road against Eisvogel Freiburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
