Regular Season Round 5: Interkhim - Tavriyska Zirka 95-42

Superleague top team - Interkhim (7-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Tavriyska Zivka (0-3) in Odessa 95-42. The game without a history. Interkhim led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tavriyska Zivka to just 5 points in first quarter and to 13 points in first half. Interkhim held Tavriyska Zivka to an opponent 19.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Interkhim forced 20 Tavriyska Zivka turnovers and outrebounded them 61-35 including a 44-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Interkhim players were unselfish on offense dishing 37 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Tavriyska Zivka's players. Swingman Yulia Musienko (177-97) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals. Center Kristina Karp (196-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Interkhim players scored in double figures. Swingman Mariya Tkach (180-92) answered with 4 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Kateryna Tykhonova (176-97) added 6 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Tavriyska Zivka. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Interkhim. Defending champion maintains first place with 7-0 record. Tavriyska Zivka lost their third game in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. Interkhim's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Avangard in Kyiv and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tavriyska Zivka will play at home against Tim-Scuf (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
