Important game to mention about took place in Kastamonu. Fifth ranked Mersin Uni (6-1) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 11th ranked Ferko Ilgaz (3-4) 65-62 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Merve Uygul (170-88) chipped in 13 points and 8 assists. Four Mersin Uni players scored in double figures. Mersin Uni's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American center Merissa Quick (190-93, college: Emporia St.) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and center Basak Altunbey (189-96) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Mersin Uni keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Edremit and Bornova. Loser Ferko Ilgaz dropped to the twelfth place with four games lost. Mersin Uni will face TED Ankara (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ferko Ilgaz will play against Edirne (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
