Regular Season Round 7: Bayer Giants - Leipzig 77-72

There was no surprise in Leverkusen where 11th ranked USC Leipzig (1-6) was defeated by sixth ranked Bayer Giants (4-3) 77-72. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Bayer Giants made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 USC Leipzig turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Brandon Nazione (203-94, college: E.Michigan) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Goetz Twiehoff (198-85) accounted for 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winning side. American forward Terence Billups (198-88, college: IU Southeast) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: Cal Poly Pomona) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for USC Leipzig in the defeat. Four USC Leipzig players scored in double figures. Bayer Giants moved-up to fourth place in South, which they share with 4 other teams. USC Leipzig at the other side keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. Bayer Giants' next round opponent will be Giants (#10) in Noerdlingen which should be theoretically an easy game. USC Leipzig will play at home against Wuerzburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
