Regular Season Round 8: Duesseldorf - Muenster 95-80

There was a surprise result when sixth ranked Duesseldorf (6-3) defeated at home second-ranked Muenster (7-2) 95-80 on Saturday. Duesseldorf forced 19 Muenster turnovers. Muenster was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Jeremy Lewis (180-86, college: St.Thomas, TX) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points and 8 assists. Lithuania forward Dainius Zvinklys (203-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Worth to mention Lewis played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Guard Anselm Hartmann (191-93) replied with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and American guard Gerrell Martin (190-93, college: LIU Brooklyn) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Muenster. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Duesseldorf moved-up to fourth place in West, which they share with Salzkotten and Schwelm. Loser Muenster keeps the second position with two games lost. Duesseldorf will face Frintrop (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Muenster will play against Salzkotten (#5) and hope to win that game.
