ASC Theresianum Mainz has finally registered their first victory this season after six consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Friendsfactory Germering (3-3) 94-81 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 17-15 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 13-point victory in overtime. ASC Theresianum Mainz made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for naturalized Bulgaria guard Gergana Georgieva (181-87) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Forward Eva Marschall (182-91) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four ASC Theresianum Mainz players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Jezabel Ohanian (170-77) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and the former international Anne Breitreiner (184-84) scored 19 points. Friendsfactory Germering's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. ASC Theresianum Mainz maintains eleventh place in South with 1-6 record. Loser Friendsfactory Germering dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. ASC Theresianum Mainz will face league's second-placed Don Bosco Bamberg on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Friendsfactory Germering will play against Wasserburg II and hope to win that game.
