Regular Season Round 3: Branik - Sezana 65-85

Date: November 6, 2016
Very expected game in Maribor where Branik (0-3) was crushed by Sezana (3-0) 85-65. It looked good early as Branik took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sezana had a 21-12 second period charge getting the lead and Branik was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-85. Sezana made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Branik 45-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. Sezana brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. 29 personal fouls committed by Branik helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Milan Kovacevic (200-96) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Guard Matic Urbas (188-93) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Sezana players scored in double figures. Power forward Igor Spesic (204-83) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Marko Cej (192-88) added 15 points in the effort for Branik. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sezana's next round opponent will be Triglav (#8) in Kranj and are hoping to win another game. Branik will play on the road against Ilirija in Ljubljana and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
