Important game to mention about took place in Homburg. Seventh ranked Homburger TG (3-2) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 3rd placed Rhein Main Baskets (3-3) 84-82 in the game for the fourth place. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Celia Marfone (183-94, college: Cal-Davis) who led the winners and scored 28 points and 9 rebounds. Her fellow American import point guard Elena Popkey (168-94, college: Oakland) accounted for 19 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals for the winning side. Homburger TG's coach Jay Brown allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Monika Wotzlaw (179-99) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and Bosnian power forward Anja Stupar (180-89) added 20 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Rhein Main Baskets in the defeat. Four Rhein Main Baskets players scored in double figures. Homburger TG moved-up to fourth place in South. Rhein Main Baskets at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Wuerzburg and Jahn Muenchen. Homburger TG will play against higher ranked Weiterstadt (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rhein Main Baskets will play against Ladybaskets Wuerzburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
