Regular Season Round 7: Keltern II - Bamberg 68-76

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Keltern II (2-5) was defeated at home by second ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (5-2) 76-68 on Sunday. Keltern II trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 22-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 68-76 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Keltern II 28-13 including a 19-7 advantage in defensive rebounds. Keltern II was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Estonia guard Liisi Sokman (166-88) who led her team to a victory scoring 19 points and 7 assists. American power forward Tori Waldner (196-93, college: Penn St.) helped adding 22 points and 5 rebounds. Four Don Bosco Bamberg players scored in double figures. At the losing side Schubitschew Sara responded with 17 points and 5 steals and center Vanessa Seemann (182-88) scored 11 points. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Don Bosco Bamberg. They maintain second place in South with 5-2 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Wolfenbuettel. Newly promoted Keltern II keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Don Bosco Bamberg will face ASC Theresianum Mainz (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
