There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Stuttgart (2-6) lost at home to fourteenth ranked Mainz (2-6) 91-77 on Sunday. They made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game, while Stuttgart only scored five points from the stripe. Strangely Stuttgart outrebounded Mainz 25-10 including a 18-6 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swingman Philipp Schoen (196-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 5 assists. India-American point guard Anish Sharda (188-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Forward David Rotim (197-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and Montenegrin Milos Mandic (195-97) added 19 points in the effort for Stuttgart. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mainz moved-up to eleventh place in South-West, which they share with Stuttgart and Kaiserslautern. Mainz will face higher ranked Saarlouis/Dillingen (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
