Regular Season Round 5: Terceira - Estoril Basket 55-59

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Terceira (2-1) against fifth ranked Estoril Basket (3-2) on Sunday night. Host Terceira was defeated by Estoril Basket in a tough game in Angra Heroismo 55-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Terceira. It was a key game for the second position in Group South. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-11. But Terceira won second period 11-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Terceira 36-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Sergio Lugo Santos (198-92) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Daniel Machado (190-90) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Estoril Basket's coach Artur Cruz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Mohamed Camara (196-83) produced 9 points and 7 rebounds and forward Fernando Ferreira (198-94) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Estoril Basket moved-up to second place in Group South, which they share with Angra and Benfica B. Loser Terceira dropped to the fifth position with one game lost. Estoril Basket will face league's leader Barreirense in Barreiro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Terceira will play on the road against the league's second-placed Benfica B (#2) in Lisboa and hope to win that game.
