Regular Season Round 7: Goettingen - Braunschweig 73-69

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Goettingen (5-1) defeated at home bottom-ranked Braunschweig (0-6) 73-69 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-69. It was a great evening for American center Verdine Warner (196-92, college: Shaw) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Lithuania point guard Inesa Visgaudaite (169-91) helped adding 20 points. Four Goettingen players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Alayshia Hunter (185-93, college: La-Monroe) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Felicia Barron (170-90, college: Quinnipiac) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Goettingen maintains fourth place in North with 5-1 record. Braunschweig lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Goettingen will face Baskets Grunberg (#6) in Gruenberg in the next round. Braunschweig will play at home against the league's second-placed TG Neuss (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
