Bottom-ranked Eisvogel Freiburg managed to get a second victory, breaking the two-game losing streak on Sunday night. This time they won against ninth-ranked SV Halle Lions 91-78. The game was mostly controlled by Eisvogel Freiburg. SV Halle Lions managed to win third quarter 24-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded SV Halle Lions 37-22 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American swingman Kristen McCarthy (182-90, college: Temple) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian guard Jovana Vukoje (174-86) supported her with 22 points. Even 20 points by international guard Kimberly Pohlmann (180-92) did not help to save the game for SV Halle Lions. American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) added 16 points and 4 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Eisvogel Freiburg (2-6) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Donau-Ries and Bad Aibling. SV Halle Lions lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. Eisvogel Freiburg will meet at home Fireballs (#10) in the next round. SV Halle Lions will play against the league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg and will have a slim chance for a victory.
