Regular Season Round 5: Tofas - Anadolu Efes 83-89

No shocking result in a game when leader Anadolu Efes (5-0) beat 10th ranked Tofas (2-3) in Bursa 89-83 on Monday. Anadolu Efes looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American forward Tyler Honeycutt (203-90, college: UCLA) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. International forward Cedi Osman (204-95) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Four Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. Dominican-American forward Ronald Roberts (203-91, college: St.Joseph's, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Dominican-American swingman Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Tofas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Anadolu Efes. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Banvit BK. Newly promoted Tofas keeps the tenth place with three games lost. Anadolu Efes will face Demir IBB (#7) in Buyukcekmece in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tofas will play on the road against the league's second-placed Banvit in Balikesir and hope to win that game.
