Regular Season Round 8: Vechta - Jena 72-80

There was a minor upset when 14th ranked SC Rasta Vechta (2-6) was defeated at home by sixteenth ranked Science City Jena (2-5) 80-72 on Monday. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Julius Jenkins (187-81, college: Georgia South) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Science City Jena's coach Bjoern Harmsen used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Derrick Allen (201-80, college: Mississippi) produced 12 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Devin Searcy (208-89, college: Dayton) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Science City Jena moved-up to fourteenth place. SC Rasta Vechta at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Walter Tigers. Science City Jena will meet at home league's second-placed ratiopharm Ulm in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. SC Rasta Vechta will play against s Oliver Baskets (#12) and hope to secure a win.
