Regular Season Round 11: Khimik - Dnipro 63-76

Date: November 11, 2016
Khimik (9-1) recorded its first loss in Yuzhny on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Dnipro (8-2) 76-63. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Khimik. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Dnipro. Khimik managed to win second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was international center Sergiy Zagreba (214-94) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. International forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (202-89, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Dnipro players scored in double figures. American point guard Jaime Smith (190-89, college: Al.-Huntsville) produced 22 points and forward Oleksandr Antypov (203-95, agency: AproK Sports Group) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dnipro moved-up to second place. Defending champion Khimik still keeps top position with one game lost. Dnipro are looking forward to face Bipa Basket (#7) in Odessa in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Khimik will play at home against Zaporizhya (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
