There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Mersin Gelisim (5-3) defeated higher ranked Cankaya (5-2) in Ankara 74-66 on Friday. They outrebounded Cankaya 40-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. American center Nadia Parker (191-87, college: USC) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international Fahriye Bayraktar (185-95) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Parker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Gulsah Celebi (-85) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Yasemin Koc (189-93) added 14 points in the effort for Cankaya. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mersin Gelisim moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Cankaya dropped to the sixth position with two games lost.
