Regular Season Round 6: Ch.Mavpy 2 - Khimik-2 87-92

There was no surprise in Cherkasy where bottom-ranked Ch.Mavpy 2 (0-6) was defeated by second ranked Khimik-2 (5-1) 92-87 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 28-21. But Ch.Mavpy 2 won second period 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Khimik-2 won last quarter 31-28. They also forced 21 Ch.Mavpy 2 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Forward Artem Kovalov (202-97) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Maksym Nikolenko (196-98) chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Anton Davydiuk (205-92) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and Yevgen Balaban (200-96, agency: AproK Sports Group) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Khimik-2 have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Hoverla, which they share with Krivbas-2. Loser Ch.Mavpy 2 still closes the standings with six games lost. Khimik-2 will face Ternopil-TNEU (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
