Regular Season Round 8: Targu Mures - CSU Sibiu 68-74
Date: November 12, 2016
Very significant was CSU Sibiu's (#5) 74-68 road victory against 6th ranked Targu Mures. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Targu Mures. Targu Mures were ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 30-14 third quarter run of CSU Sibiu. The winners were led by American guard Kevin Hardy (188-93, college: McNeese St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and the other American import power forward Chris Cooper (205-90, college: ODU) supported him with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Even 24 points and 5 assists by Ghanian guard Alhaji Mohammed (192-81, college: Louisville, agency: Three Eye Sports) did not help to save the game for Targu Mures. Montenegrin point guard Goran Martinic (187-87) added 14 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Targu Mures' coach Barnabas Szaszgaspar tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. CSU Sibiu (4-3) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Pitesti. Targu Mures at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Craiova. CSU Sibiu will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Targu Mures will play on the road against the league's second-placed Steaua CSM (#2) in Bucuresti and hope to get back on the winning track.
