Regular Season Round 8: Rhein MB - Wuerzburg 52-53

Another exciting game took place in Langen where sixth ranked Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (4-3) edged by one point 7th ranked Rhein Main Baskets (3-4) 53-52. It looked good early as Rhein Main Baskets took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ladybaskets Wuerzburg had a 12-9 second period charge getting the lead and Rhein Main Baskets were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 52-53. Canadian guard Stephanie Kleysen (178, college: Winnipeg) saved the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Franziska Kirchhoff (168-97) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Pia Dietrich (168-94) replied with 22 points and 5 rebounds and Bosnian power forward Anja Stupar (180-89) added 6 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Rhein Main Baskets. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg moved-up to fourth place in South, which they share with Jahn Muenchen. Rhein Main Baskets at the other side keep the seventh position with four games lost. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg will play against higher ranked Weiterstadt (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Rhein Main Baskets will play against Speyer / Schifferstadt (#8) in Dudenhofen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
