Regular Season Round 6: Illiabum - Lusitania 79-54

Very expected game in Ilhavo where 9th ranked Lusitania (2-4) was crushed by third ranked Illiabum (5-2) 79-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Illiabum. Lusitania was better in third quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lusitania to just 6 points in second quarter. Illiabum looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Serbian power forward Nikola Tadic (206-88) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Angola forward Sergio Correia (198-85) chipped in 13 points during the contest. Four Illiabum players scored in double figures. Coach Ricardo Vasconcelos's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American center Chris Matagrano (206-90, college: New Hampshire) with 19 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Angola forward Antonio Monteiro (204-89) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Illiabum moved-up to second place. Loser Lusitania keeps the ninth position with four games lost. Illiabum will face bottom-ranked Sampaense (#12) in Coimbra in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lusitania will play at home against Electrico FC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
