Rather expected game when 7th ranked Levski (1-4) was smashed on the road by fourth ranked Academik Plovdiv (3-1) 98-76. Academik Plovdiv outrebounded Levski 43-31 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Levski's players. French-American forward Jordan Semple (201-92, college: Chico St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Oscar Bellfield (187-90, college: UNLV) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. Academik Plovdiv's coach Asen Nikolov felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Pavel Ivanov (200-88, agency: Interperformances) responded with 20 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and forward Stanislav Slaveykov (198-86) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Academik Plovdiv and four Levski players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Academik Plovdiv. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Beroe. Levski lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Academik Plovdiv will play against Yambol (#5) on the road in the next round. Levski will play against Balkan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
