Regular Season Round 4: Osmaniye - Istanbul Univ. 62-66

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Istanbul Uni and 9th ranked Osmaniye had identical 2-1 record. But Osmaniye was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Istanbul 66-62 on Saturday night. Istanbul Uni outrebounded Osmaniye 43-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for Latvia power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds. American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Istanbul Uni players scored in double figures. American guard Sugar Rodgers (180-89, college: Georgetown) replied with 25 points and 4 assists and her fellow American import center Aneika Henry-Morello (193-86, college: Florida) added 15 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Osmaniye. Istanbul Uni (3-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Osmaniye dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Istanbul Uni will face Mersin MBK (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Osmaniye will play against Samsun and hope to win that game.
