Regular Season Round 8: Opladen - B.Loewen 55-63

There was no surprise in Leverkusen where 8th ranked SG BBZ Opladen (3-5) was defeated by sixth ranked B.Loewen (5-4) 63-55 on Sunday. SG BBZ Opladen trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 12 after three quarters before a 22-18 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 55-63 at the end of the game. B.Loewen dominated on the defensive end, holding SG BBZ Opladen to just 4 points in first quarter. The best player for the winners was American Ja'Nee Morton (175) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Center Viktoria Jaeger (184) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Leonie Schuetter (177-98) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Nicola Happel (164-92) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. B.Loewen have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in North. Loser SG BBZ Opladen dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. B.Loewen will face Barmer TV (#11) in Wuppertal in the next round where they are favorite. SG BBZ Opladen will play on the road against Krofdorf/Gleib. (#6) in Giessen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
