Regular Season Round 6: Niko-Basket - Dnipro-2 49-68

There was a small surprise in Mykolaiv where sixth ranked Dnipro-2 (2-4) outscored 3rd ranked Niko-Basket (3-5) 68-49 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 68-49. Dnipro-2 held Niko-Basket to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Dnipro-2 forced 27 Niko-Basket turnovers. Guard Yusuf Sanon (190-99) scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 9 steals to lead the charge for the winners and forward Olexandr Kovalskiy (202-98) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Roman Lypko with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and forward Sergiy Vershinin (195-95) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dnipro-2 moved-up to fifth place. Niko-Basket at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the third position with five games lost. Dnipro-2 will face SumDU (#7) in Sumy in the next round. Niko-Basket will play on the road against the league's leader Azovmash (#1) in Mariupol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
