Regular Season Round 6: Fenerbahce - Galatasaray 92-74

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#4) and Galatasaray (#5). Fenerbahce (5-1) smashed visiting Galatasaray (4-2) by 18 points 92-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Galatasaray. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Galatasaray's 24 and made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Galatasaray 31-20 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Galatasaray's players. The best player for the winners was Czech power forward Jan Vesely (213-90) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Greek guard Konstantinos Sloukas (197-90) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was international Sinan Guler (192-83, college: Carroll, MT, agency: 1x1 Sports) who recorded 14 points and 5 assists and American Jon Diebler (198-88, college: Ohio St., agency: BeoBasket) added 10 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fenerbahce have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Besiktas. Loser Galatasaray keeps the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Pinar Karsiyaka and Yesilgiresun. Fenerbahce will meet Demir IBB (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Galatasaray will play against Besiktas (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
