Regular Season Round 9: Orduspor - Cankaya 69-75

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Orduspor (4-5) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Cankaya (6-2) 75-69 on Tuesday. Cankaya looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Guard Ilknur Dumlu (176-89) stepped up and scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Maryam Gultekin (-90) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was Jamaica-American power forward Yanique Gordon (193-91, college: Cent.Florida) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and guard Tugce Kanat (173-85) scored 19 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cankaya moved-up to fifth place. Loser Orduspor keeps the twelfth position with five games lost. Cankaya will face higher ranked Izmit (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Orduspor will play against Mersin Uni (#8) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the KBSL just one year after relegation.
