TKBL top team - Bornova (8-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventeenth ranked Mersin Kurtulus (1-8) 80-53. Bornova dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Mersin Kurtulus' 28. They outrebounded Mersin Kurtulus 46-34 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bornova players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The former international guard Esra Sencebe (173-81) nailed 16 points and 5 assists for the winning side and American center Chanita Jordan (196-87, college: Bowie St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) accounted for 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Bornova's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Corinne Costa (193, college: UCLA) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and Hatice Uredi (-93) added 11 points respectively for Mersin Kurtulus in the defeat. Bornova have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Mersin Kurtulus lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Nevsehir HBVU. Bornova will play against Elazig (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
