Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Orduspor (4-6) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Mersin Uni (7-3) 81-70 on Friday. Mersin Uni forced 27 Orduspor turnovers. Strangely Orduspor outrebounded Mersin Uni 52-37 including a 23-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Point guard Merve Uygul (170-88) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds, 14 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Gozde Yuruk (-93) chipped in 25 points and 5 assists. Jamaican-American power forward Yanique Gordon (193-91, college: Cent.Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 23 rebounds and Eyfel Akar (-87) added 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Four Orduspor players scored in double figures. Mersin Uni moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ormanspor and Izmit. Orduspor lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with six games lost. Mersin Uni will face Izmit (#7) on the road in the next round. Orduspor will play against Edirne (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
